Funding and Support

The Havurah Synagogue is a membership based nonprofit organization. Membership is assessed by each member on an ability-to-pay program. Dues are based on approximately 2% of a member or family's net income.

In addition each member is assessed an additional percentage for our Building Fund which helps us cover the day-to-day expenses of our sanctuary and classrooms.

Tax Deductable Donation Form (PDF)

There are hundreds of non-members who support the Havurah with a tax deductible contribution and are considered "Friends of the Havurah." A community of our size (130 member families) depends on the financial support of our "Friends" so that we can offer education, counselling, and outreach services to Jewish and non-Jewish familes throghout our region. Newsletter Subscription
All members and Friends who contribute $26 or more automatically recieve a subsciption to our excellent monthly newsletter (10 issues per year). We feature an article by our Rabbi each month as well as informative pieces by guest teachers, and news about our community. To subscribe send a check for $26 to the address above, or you may request a free 3 month subscription by writing to Havurah@mind.net

eScrip & Albertson's Fundraiser
During the current recession fundraising programs that cost members and friends nothing are more important than ever for our Havurah. Each year we receive $2,400 from our participation in eScrip and Albertson's. Both programs are so easy to participate in.

With Albertson's just pick up a grocery card at the entry of the Havurah or email us at ashlandhavurah@yahoo.com and we will happily send you an Albertson's grocery card. Whenever you shop there (in Ashland, Medford, or anywhere in the nation) just give the card to the checker. That's all there is to it and the Havurah is automatically given a rebate of 2-3% of your purchases.

Help us pay for our new sanctuary
This year we are dedicated to reducing most of the debt on our beautiful new sanctuary and classrooms. This is the first new Jewish sanctuary built in the Northwest in the last fifty years, and the first entirely new Jewish Renewal sanctuary in the world. Dedicated in memory of Jackie Rose Sandler, the sanctuary has become a kind of community center in Ashland and has already hosted some extraordinary concerts, plays, peace gatherings, and interfaith events besides our regular schedule of Jewish sacred ceremonies (Shabbat and holiday services, bar and bat mitzvahs, weddings, and memorial services).

Download and fill out and mail to us the sanctuary pledge form and make a tax deductible contribution which will lead toward the elmination of debt. Every dollar we save through debt reduction is a dollar we can spend on our school, adult education programs, and our outreach efforts.

Dedicate a chair
Each chair in our sanctuary has a beautiful plaque with the name of the person or family who purchased the chair for us. Please participate and honor a loved one in your family with a special dedication. Download the chair dedicationform. All proceeds from these donations go toward our building fund to help us reduce our mortgage debt.

Dedicate a prayerbook
Our siddurs and high holiday prayerbooks are very special. For a small donation the name of someone you love and want to honor will be imprinted in the inside cover of our daily and holiday prayerbooks.
